Reading in Worship
- Usually there are 3 readings.
- The readings will be sent to you during the week prior to your reading time. You just need to print the attachment out, or feel free to use your tablet device to read if you want to save paper.
- Try and practise your reading aloud at home (or, if you feel comfortable, ask someone to listen to you read).
- Try and be confident reading words that are hard to pronounce.
- There is no need to announce the chapter and verses to be read. Begin with, for example, “A reading from the gospel of Luke”.
- At the end of the readings, we conclude with “For the Word of the Lord” and lead the congregation in the response “Thanks be to God”.
- If you are new to reading publicly, please don’t hesitate to ask me about it. I’m happy to give you some tips on reading aloud – it’s not difficult or scary!
Many thanks for offering your gifts in this ministry!
Your contribution and time is appreciated.
